Is Steam planned to be the used as a patch distribution platform?

I'd like to request that it be considered that like CK2 a non-steam version be availible.

Thanks

Though I am not a voice of authority in this company, I'd like to answer that.

There is a reason why Steam/Valve --more frequently-- offers very very competitive sales for PI titles (compared to other distributors)....because Steam is told to offer those very very competitive prices....the point is to get as many people on it as possible. Of course we "choose" where we buy from, but ultimately, we all tend to flock to the lowest seller.

I think it is wonderful that alternatives are offered (eg Steam vs nonSteam versions) simply because it provides a short lived psychological-only benefit to the consumer of the now minority non-Steam group, but such alternatives will likely not be offered on a perpetual basis with every single release to come. That simply makes no business sense to do so.

But I make sense. Of course I do. :)

One of the big reasons to use Steam is due to the difficulty in cracking and pirating games that require it to run.
And in the past, Paradox games have been extremely susceptible to piracy.

But I still don't like being required to sign up with them just to play a game. I want my hard copy!

gamersgate is fine too

I want to state the same thing for my own,a gamersgate account with serial key for the game is enough, i do not want buying it at GG,only playing it on steam, because modding is then not possible and I own enough games bought at GG instead not all to be registered on PDOX but bought original games from your download portal and want no additional steam game which hampers my pc...

please regard that not as an offense I love your games and I pay for them good cash thus I can await a good deal buying it as hardcopy...

I will buy it either way, but for modding I hope we have the option.

If it's a Steam only release, I shan't buy it.

Hopefully it won't come to that.

I'm pretty sure you can still mod with Steam versions, there isn't much of a difference... Either way, I'm a Steam player, but I do think there should be at least a Gamersgate version.

I won't any title that I need to sign up to a third party. I would love Civ V and the latest Silent Hunter, but refuse to be dictated by a supplier I'm the customer.

Is Gamersgate not a third party?

A third may be by definition, but not a third party says I must be connected to internet or where I must down load my patch. It doesn't matter much I buy the game where I want and if they don't sell I don't buy it Its just a game not necessity
