Description
[3.8.3~3.9.X]Serious leader portrait bug happen when species trait changes

Game Version
3.8.3~3.9.X

What version do you use?
Steam

What expansions do you have installed?
All

Do you have mods enabled?
No,
non Mod reasons, even happen without any Mod.
But this seriously damage the RP experience with Species & Character Mods.

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
after species traits changes(no matter modified or ascensions), the designed leaders(like starting ruler) portrait will become random another one.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
change the species traits(like gene modified), then see the starting ruler's portrait

here's just using vanilla UNE for example:

This seriously damage the RP experience(especially with Species & Character Mods.), if you really care about the RP experience, this bug should be eliminate as soon as possible.
Instead of keep ignoring it.

of course this is not affect the number-climbing and color-expanding gameplay.
but quite serious annoyed the RP experience.

You really don't care.
Well, disappoint enough already.
Cool your jets, you reported this yesterday. You're simply not going to get a response that fast, and quite frankly even if a fix for this in the next patch (which is still several weeks out) you may never actually get a direct response. Bumping this report multiple times a day really isn't necessary.

I just totally don't have a idea that if they notice this..
I have feedbacked a bug in the past... for at least 3 times(for about 1 year). But no reply, no fix.

Sigh, I really hope they can notice and fix this issue, maybe just because I still like this game.
I post this in many place, just simply wishing they being able to see and attach importance to this...

This happens when a designed leader belongs to a non-base species (which is what happens when you modify species).

Before the bug is fixed, for anyone interested, you can get your hands a little dirty with save editing:
  • Identify the old species and new species IDs (debugtooltips, or find them in the save by traits).
  • Replace all instances of base_ref=oldID with base_ref=newID.
  • Remove the base_ref line entirely from new species; add base_ref=newID to old species.
species_db section is at the very top of the save. Make sure to make a back-up.
