Good morning Console Edition Community!

This morning we've released a hotfix to address some further crashing issues on Console Edition. This new version is 7.2.0.0 on XBOX and 7.02 on PlayStation.

  • Fixed graphics related crash in the Expansion Planner by changing the icons for number of districts.
  • Empire names now appear on the Galaxy Map when playing in Japanese or Korean.

If you continue to experience bugs or other issues on this new version, first start a new save and see if the issues persist. If they do, please make a bug report here.

Thanks for playing Stellaris: Console Edition!

I started a new game and i continue to crash at year 2200. I deleted my previous game and started from scratch. It ran smoothly until i hit 2236 and now it is crashing. Less frequently as before, rather than crashing a few times a month, now it crashes only every other month. Can you please tell what i should play for it not to crash? Small Universe with only 1 or 2 empires? PS5 with no outstanding updates.

you have crash at the start of the game ? 2200 ?

2236 was my first crash and then it went down hill from there (crashing every few months). No way near as bad as it was last week with hitting year 2400, but still crashing.
here's a bit of a tester if you want, disabled the Overlord DLC if you own it, any custom empires you made with that content will of course need to either be edited to work, or deleted

I did try this back in March when the issues started and it did not fix the issue. But, i gave it a go this morning and deactivated overload, deleted the game reinstalled and turned off autosave (because that was floating around in another posting) and i had the same issue. Its being coming up to 3-months since the game was playable for me.

I appreciate the suggestion, might be time for me to dip on the game this is getting a bit ridiculous.

that's fair

it seems to be mixed results on if that does something for people or not

unfortunately, there are still problems... less often, because every 30 minutes to 1 hour, but it crashes the game as it happened before (at about year 2350). I play on PS5.

Well first of all I want to say that you have developed a great game and that you have released a console version in addition, not everyone has the money for a powerful PC, besides you can not play comfortably from the couch. I've enjoyed getting all the expansions & DLC's because it's such a good game. But now it is even more annoying that I can not enjoy this great work to the fullest, if times not the game crashes also bothers me that the performance since overlord already early game slowly decreases more and more, no matter how low the growth rate is or the galaxy size. I know that game development is a lot of trail and error and as soon as you change something in one place new problems arise in another place, but I expect that changes are tested extensively before updates get gold status.

Kind regards from Germany

I did find a workaround, it is REALLY tedious but there were no more crashes. I am opting to take a break from the game until the game is fixed because this does make the game less fun. When entering system view, you can update or access all your menu items ( update planets, starbases and interact with UI) and I dont crash. I pause the game when going into Galaxy view. Once i view what i need to do or move my ships during war, i go back into system view and unpause. No crashes. You can imagine how irritating this is, but i have been able to get to 2500 without a crash. The experience sucks, but i wanted to throw out that work around for PS5 Console.

Cant help you with multiplayer - i have been going solo until this game gets fixed on console.

Well scratch that, it was rainy all weekend and i play some stellaris. I was able to get to to year 2600 and then i started crashing in system view (repeatedly). I guess i play shorter games, but i was disappointed to say the least.

unfortunately, so far me and my colleagues have ordered all preorders, but if the game will be still in this condition, I'm not going to order anything else. there is nothing to say, Stellaris with all the additions is not a cheap game, and after 2350, when the game starts for good, it crashes and it's over. I'm sorry, but if this doesn't change, my adventure with Stellaris is over.

it's a joke where with every addition or update they always screw something up. the community pays for it, and it's not small money if you count all the DLC. please control yourself, because playing a new session every two days is already tiring. I would be fucking ashamed to spend such crap on the market!!! signs under Jonderski ^^

These crashes are getting ridiculous on my ps5. I've noticed that seem to occur during pop heavy games. I may have to stop running empires like that. It's a shame. There used to be very few issues before overlord and it just seems to be getting worse.

I've had mine crash when paused quite a few times. One time when I was adjusting species rights. Though it does seem to crash more when unpaused then when paused. I may just have to disable overlord and try a new game. I really don't want to cause I've had a great game with a lot of good relics. Lol
