glitch in ruler colour variants

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
When these portraits are selected: 1,2,4,5,6,13,15 of the aquatics species appearance list, and the gender is set to indeterminable, the ruler colour variant is locked on variant 1, unless another ruler colour variant is selected BEFORE setting the gender to indeterminable, then it can be saved normally... clearly an arbitrary order of operations which must be a glitch.
