Stellaris keeps taking me back to desktop

I pre-ordered Stellaris. I tried starting the game. It opened the menu to start playing. When I press play, the screen glitches and then I start hearing the opening music of the game, but visually I only see my desktop. I tried clicking on the icon of the game to show me the game but it keeps taking me back to the desktop. This is frustrating.

Try to see if the same workaround fixes it for you.

- Click on Settings icon in bottom right of launcher
- Change Display Mode from "Fullscreen" to "Windowed (Fullscreen)"
