Stellaris has been failing to setup multiplayer servers for me. When I try to host a server, it gives me the multiplayer lobby however it doesn't let anyone join. I checked with my friends, we have the same check sum, and we are using no mods. I am also unable to join anyone else's servers.

Another interesting issue is that the game is not giving my server an id. It says the server is online however there is no server id. It won't let me copy it, and it doesn't show up when hovering over the server status icon. Attached is a screenshot of the issue.

I've tried a lot of the things on other forum posts, including a clean reinstall checking the firewall, and so any help is greatly appreciated.

Has this ever worked for you? Or never?

Are you all on the Steam edition, or you or the others have non-Steam editions?

I am on the steam edition of the game. Multiplayer worked the other day, but stopped working after my computer lost power for a bit while I was playing the game.

I believe I've found the issue though, according to a steam discussion it seems some other game's dedicated servers cause issues with Stellaris. In my case it was a space engineers server that launched when my computer started up again after losing power. Once I closed the server it seemed to fix my issue. I haven't been able to completely test it, but it's assigning me server IDs again.

Ah, I have heard that before! The ports must clash or something like that I guess.

Another way around it would be for you and your opponents to opt into the "cross store MP" version in our launcher-game settings area, which uses a different MP server.
