Description
Stellaris [Cepheus v.3.4.3] [9d15] - Corrupted save file? Loaded into a blank universe
Game Version
Cepheus v.3.4.3 (9d15)
What version do you use?
Steam
What expansions do you have installed?
Synthetic Dawn, Utopia, Leviathans Story Pack, Apocalypse, Megacorp, Distant Stars, Ancient Relics, Federations, Nemesis, Overlord
Do you have mods enabled?
No (and I want to emphasize this point - not so much as a custom portrait)
Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I went to reload my most recent autosave and discovered, to my horror, that the entire galaxy and everything in it had vanished. To my growing horror, this applied not only to my last autosave, but all five of them. The last working save-file I have is my last manual save, which was from 2329. I can only presume that the problem is the result of a save-file corruption, as this is what I would expect the game to come up with if it loaded a near-completely blank file: no empires, no resources, no fleets, no planets, no stars, no galaxy, no nothing. Just a date.
The last thing I did before I noticed the corruption was enter into the Shroud, be given a series of cryptic phrases, and pick the wrong response. I then reloaded the game, at which point I discovered the problem. However, I think that this is only incidental as it took place two in-game years after the first corrupted file.
My game is totally unmodified and has been updated to the latest version (v.3.4.3 9d15). I have also verified the integrity of my Steam game files, but did not find anything out of the ordinary. I also attempted to restart my computer, to no avail. My saves are local, not to the cloud.
I attempted to open the save file with the pdx_unlimiter software, which I did not download until after the issue had occurred, but it refused to open and gave an error. I was able to open both the gamestate and meta files by unpacking them using the 7-Zip file manager; I went to look for obvious issues such as a { that did not close, but my review of the file in Notepad++ did not reveal any obvious issues - indeed, the { and } balanced, leaving me entirely out of ideas.
I am uploading a screenshot showing what the issue looks like and, additionally, two saves: one that appears to work properly (2329.03.18) and one that definitely does not and shows the issue (autosave_2346.07.01). Note that these save files were _not_ modified in any way using the aforementioned software - I only used them to attempt to open the files, and can confirm from the last modified date that they were not changed.
Steps to reproduce the issue.
(Attempt to) load the save file. The problem should show up immediately and be extremely obvious.
