Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I have went virtuality tradition as a machine empire doing the new starlit origin; and completed the situation. Upon completing the virtual tree, all pops that worked maintenance drones were removed. This caused extremely low stability and amenities on all 4 planets. I am unsure if this works as intended, but I am thinking its not, as I could pick maintenance protocols in reform government menu after this happened.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
1) Go a machine empire
2) Go starlit origin (not sure if this was needed)#
3) Get synthetic age perk as soon as possible
4) Complete the situation, and focus on virtuality
5) Complete the virtual tree
6) Watch as the population numbers get wacky for a few days, and then maintenance drones are gone.

Seconded, after getting virtual growth is impossible because maintenance drones are created and then instantly disappear. This causes jobs to not only be left unfilled, which is not supposed to happen to victuals, but also they will never fill.

Update: I have a work around - and possible cause. This only seems to happen if you have maintenance drones flagged as the preferred job in its class. If you let it run until the drones pop up and pause before they disappear, then remove the flag, they disappear and fill the higher jobs correctly.
