Storm King Argilac
After the awful way that those foreigners the Targaryens refused my marriage proposal I had started watching the iron islands even more. They were getting inconveniently big and their border was right next to mine. As I was looking for allies across the sea I happened upon a new kingdom which had popped up calling itself New Valyria land run by Aegon Targaryen the same person who had refused my marriage offer.
After seeing that I figured I was better off looking for marriage alliances in Westeros instead of across the sea. Unfortunately the only viable option was The northern kingdom or the cold men as we call them. However, Torhen Stark would not take a matrilineal marriage even with his last child and forth son.
While thinking about my daughter’s marriage prospects and wondering if I had to marry her off to someone of lower status. Surprisingly my wife became pregnant again. As much as it pained me I didn’t get my hopes up because, for all I knew it could be another girl. Imagine my surprise when nine months later Casper Durradon was born. The physician however, took those hopes away. Casper was a sickly baby the physician was not sure would last a year.
I quickly took those ideas out of his head when I said this, “If my son does not make it through the year I will have both your and any family you have’s head.” That got him to put some more effort in and though Casper wasn’t in the clear yet he seemed a much more lively baby than when he was first born.
I still waited until he was one and basically in the clear to marry my daughter off however. Argella has been my only child for years and I loved her. She was my gem I wanted her to be magnificent. So, seeing as she could no longer be my heir I still married her into the northern kingdom but, instead of marrying the last son with no inheritance prospects whatsoever She married the first. So, my daughter became the wife of Brandon Stark and future queen of the Northern kingdom.
My son meanwhile was being trained in the art of war. I left most of his general knowledge to the maester while helping him along sometimes when the maester got stuck in the martial education aspect of it.
A few years after I had married my daughter off though a massive outbreak of the plague happened. It spread from Wrathtown straight up to Storms end and beyond. We had secluded ourselves but, even that wasn’t enough to save us. There was food shortages and people stole food that wasn’t rationed which I immediately banished them for. Truthfully we had to eat rats just to survive at some points and even then I was scared we would not make it. But, in the end we came out from it okay. At least until I caught pneumonia. I truly thought I was dead with this. My life had finally caught up to me.
So, I started making arrangements and made my wife the regent in case anything happened. If my daughter still lived in the area I would most likely pick her but, my wife was my second best option. I had already given my son the Lordship of Blackwater Bay because, it is the designated heir title. All I could do was hope he learned something from all those adults trying to force him to follow their direction even though I was protecting him through that.
Imagine my surprise when I also managed to beat pneumonia with the physicians great treatment. I had beaten the plague and pneumonia and thought that nothing could bring me down now. That just goes to show you. A year later I had caught food poisoning. Something as simple as food poisoning. Of course I went to the physician who always managed to save me. This time though he couldn’t save me in fact he made it worse.
A month later Storm King Argilac Durradon died of food poisoning leaving behind his 28 year old daughter his 8 year old son and unfortunately no grandchildren. On his tombstone lay 'Here lies Storm King Argilac a great brave man in life and proof that death can bring us all down.'
Ok, everyone this is my first AAR so, please don't be too harsh. I only though of doing this like the second generation in so, sorry about no pictures. In case anyone couldn't tell I played during the year of the conquest.
