Only recently decided to get Victoria 3 for myself on Steam. Started my first playthrough as New Granada, game ran well at 5 speed ( my system: Ryzen 7 2700x, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB RAM). Then after a few days of playing, loaded up the game yesterday and it was unbearably laggy, even on the main menu. I tried restarting the game and still the lag persisted, which confused me as it was running well before and nothing had changed, same game settings, same hardware, same apps open on my PC. Tried again today, meaning that my PC and Steam client have both been restarted since the initial lag onset, and that hasn't fixed it. I tried lowering my graphics settings significantly, and whilst this did very marginally improve performance, it's still significantly worse than it was a couple of days ago on higher settings. I would expect performance drop off as I get later into the game, as is common with all Paradox titles, but this doesn't explain how the game now suddenly lags even on the main menu with no save game loaded, and continues to lag just as bad in game on a brand new game starting in 1836. Tried verifying my game files on Steam to see if something had corrupted, and this still had no impact. I'd love to hear if anyone has any potential explanations or fixes, because as it stands the game has become unplayable for me as it now runs unbearably slow. Also want to add for anyone considering buying the game, I don't know who came up with the system requirements but I don't see any way how you could run Vic 3 with the minimum requirements, the game uses the vast majority of both my CPU and RAM most of the time.
