could anybody make a contour lines map overlay? I'm not capable of modding this myself.
I think this overlay is already in the map editor, so I suppose it won't be that hard to get it working in-game.....
This would be highly appreciated by many players using the stricter slope limits mod...

This would have been very useful. With a hotkey to turn it on and off.

In my opinion the contour line display in the map edit mode is not detailed enough. What I'd like to see are simple lines and a possibility to set the contour line distance. It would make drawing the roads and placing zones easier and more "natural" if you could see topography from the contour lines.

I got this idea and I realized that it's not the contour lines I need, it's the graphical presentation of the slope value. Could this be implemented in the game?

The closer to each other the contour lines are the steeper the slope is (fig.1). This is relatively simple method for figuring out where the flat and steep surfaces are.

Another way to figure out the terrain is to color the terrain based on the slope value as in fig. 2. Red color shows the most extreme slopes while green color stands for flat surface. This kind of information would be useful when laying out the roads, zones and buildings.
