Originally shown to me by a friend here. I've found that this "Gamebooster" program (currently beta and free) dramatically sped up my IC game, from roughly 30 seconds per day to 6-9 seconds per day. Certainly made the long periods of peace a lot better for me. I also found that setting the priority of the game to it's highest with this sped things up more, even during war.

It works by closing most of the background apps on my system and frees up CPU usage. Great for CPU intensive games, but not so much for the graphically intensive. Either way, hope it works for the rest of you :)

Stopwatch. I pause at the 00:00 hour of a day, let it run at max speed with the stopwatch running, and stop the watch when the day goes to 00:00 again. Quite literally measuring the seconds.

Hm, interesting, I don't have such speed problems. Even game saving is faster with IC then AoD. A lot faster:D

hmmm ... did a test with a two day period in a saved game with and without the help of that programme on an older machine - result - no difference at all!!

this may be something for people who regard their computer as a black box and have little confidence in their own ability to limit the load of the CPU but other than that ...

Is anyone else getting a lot more lag in like 1942 starting from 1933? Speed is 1/4 it was at the start of the game, maybe slower.

@ Prince: Sounds like there weren't many background apps running to begin with. Like most programs and performance boosts, it will work for some, not for others.

@ am300307: Yes, and I'm pretty sure it's because there's a lot more wars and active fighting going on. I've noticed that, even with this boost, the game runs slower when there is a war going on with a decently powerful country involved.

Now, in 1941 Japan Surrendered and the game is... very very slow now! Nearly one day to another due to the lot of events(Free Philippines North and South Korea, Communist-Nationalist China War etc.) a day became twice as long as before. Poor me:(

I think the best solution would be a program, that clears the saved games from all unncessary data, echacing performance.

Wow, if it would work, it would be great:D I didn't know about it, but it screwed up my saved game. Seems like not compatible with AoD 1.5 Iron Cross rev. 2:(

this might also help some:

Sprites

This change will allow you to both load and play the game much faster, but it only works if you use counters instead of sprite. Note that the file to be left alone in those folders do not have to be the one mentioned. Any of the other files will do as long as their file name match.

1. Open HoI 2 directory\GFX\map\units.
2. Backup this folder and its subfolder just in case you want to play with sprite again later or if anything wrong happens.
3. Delete all files in HoI 2 directory\GFX\map\units except "T-BATTLESHIP A-WALK C-MIN L-1 D-NW.spr".
4. Open HoI 2 directory\GFX\map\units\bmp.
5. Delete all files in HoI 2 directory\GFX\map\units\bmp except "T-BATTLESHIP A-WALK C-MIN L-1 D-NW.bmp".
6. Start the game and feel the speed.

Kind of brutal way. Now I really feel that something should be done:S
