  • Magicka
Just a suggestion.
Limit a player to three Magicks and a super magick for an ulti. Have the towers cast random magicka (all of them, for hilarity, including haste) add fog of war in some fashion and send waves of goblins against other goblins. Instant gibfest. Even more so when you add players into the melting pot.

I think that DotA and Magicka are too different and I'm not sure a fix between them would work too well...

imo a Blood-line Champions approach is more suited.

What is MOBA? I know MOAB is the mother of all bombs, but...
"Multiplayer Online Battle Arena"
Did you ever play Dota?
All players take a hero character. There are 2 Teams each with a base. AI controlled mobs will come in waves from each base and try to get to the opposition's base, fighting stuff along the way (other AI or player heros). The mobs travel down paths called "Lanes". There are normally multiple lanes and the Heros can usually take shortcuts to switch lanes.
The players try to escort their AI mobs to the other base and destroy it. They do this by "Pushing" lanes, destroying the opposition AI there (which are much weaker than the heros but greater in number).
Opposition heros are normally doing the same. You earn gold (or credits or whatever) by doing stuff (killing opposing heros is often a good source.. getting farmed, or killed a lot, is often bad) and it can be spent on items in a store to beef up your hero.
Heros normally level up and are normally split into different categories such as strength heros (good melee characters) and agility heros (good range or utility characters) or int heros (good magic) and usually have special abilities unique to the hero.
Of course various Moba games have different twists on the genre.

Apparently a good place to start (and a free to play) is LoL: League of Legends. Never really been into the genre myself though so I'm sure some others will have some better descriptions / starting point suggestions.

Wouldn't work with the current Magicka mechanics. MOBA games heavily emphasize on leveling up and buying gear (let's leave BLC out of the equation). Those things don't exist in Magicka. To boot, magicka has very fast combat which only maybe suits the lategame moba meta.

True, leveling up is not quite a probability in current time, considering you'd need to deal with making a precise algorithm that would work well with the chaotic status of Magicka.

But what about the buying gear portion of the dilemma? I say making a simple money system (as in a counter for finding coins or getting a kill) would not be hard at all, after that it's simply making a shop that checks and balances your score of coins for your purchases. Buy different items at different values.

I'm not saying anyone could do it, but for anyone who does any form of mod work would probably have an idea of how to do it.

A Gauntlet mode would be much more suitable in my opinion. Without the headache inducing balance and the competitive spirit (which does not seem to be the focus of Magicka's fanbase) that a MOBA requires, it just wouldn't be fun. Besides, the Magicks aren't that interesting by themselves.
