Fall from Heaven has those cool ancient towers and unique historical sites. They have effects such as:
- effects on units adjacent to or in the hex
- provide bonuses/maluses to city that have them in their territory, and possibly to the empire as a whole
- hero units can raid some of them for loot and artifacts, but they might come out cursed
I'd like to see some buildings like that in Warlock, some interesting things that are independent from cities and can be claimed.
Example:
- Ancient tower that when claimed provides extra sight range
- Giant ballista that when claimed can fire at enemies
- Unique ancient city that you can occupy for its bonuses but not upgrade or build units from.
- Tree of life that heals units in its hex.
- Dungeons with a high chance of artifact that only a hero can explore (entering it could actually take you to a mini-alternate-plane)
Some of the current features that only serve as building sites (magic fields, pumpkins, etc) could get some effects as well, i.e. casting a spell in a magic field hex costs less, stuff like that.
