I often find myself building sensor towers far away from my base using the RC commander and an RC transport. However, it is extremely tedious to have to order the RC transport to collect specific resources and then bring them to the site. It would be nice if the RC transport had an additional function whereby you target a building site with the RC transport, which makes it gather the needed resources from the nearest depots and then delivered them to the building site.

It works well at the moment. In the early game, just fill your Transport with the stuff you need, grab the commander and the drones you need, and build where you want? If it is a bigger project, like a dome, have them build a Hub. If it is just a sensor, then one transport and one commander with one drone, is enough. When you have shuttles, just place down a universal depo, adjust the sliderbar to the amount of resources you want, and allow shuttle access, and they will grab what you need and deliver anywhere on the map.

I think the suggestion is more if you want to build an "outpost". A dome, a few mines, a moxie, a few houses. To reduce the shuttle load. I would love for this to be a thing when Rovers run on autopilot.

Yes, I do that, but it is tedious work to fill up the RC Transport with some exact number of electronics and metals. I'm asking for a quality of life improvement, not a game changing one.

Shuttles are not a deep tech. If you are building far away then set up a depot and deliver with the shuttles. The transport will be completely insufficient.

Shuttles are deep enough into the tech tree that by the time I get them, and have electronics sufficient enough to build them, I've already littered the whole map with sensor towers.

Wait, so this IS about sensor towers? Then I don't know how the RC Transport could have better functionality. The drones can literally just take the materials they need off the back of the transport. It doesn't even have to put the mats down. Pick up some metal and electronics and send it around with your commander. Its the easiest thing in the world.

It's not exclusively about sensor towers, but that is the most common case. It would also be very useful to have when you want to create a satellite base.

Having said that, I actually did not realise that drones can collect resources from the back of the RC Transport, so thank you for that (I thought the Transport needed to unload the goods). It will certainly make it easier. Nevertheless, I still think it's tedious having to send the RC Transport to collect the needed resources, especially when you don't have a lot of some particular resource, and it's located in various depots. It seems like an easily avoidable bit of micro-management if the RC Transport could be ordered to collect any resourced needed for a particular building site.

Also, while shuttles obviously make the game a lot easier in terms of micromanagement, they're not universally dependable. While they're not very deep into the tech tree they're still well into the mid-game, and they don't function during dust-storms. So over-all, I think adding this functionality to the Transport would be quite useful.
