I don't know if the Devs have already talked/posted about this. if so sorry to bother you (again) with this topic!

It would be really nice addition to have the possibility to select a proper regnal name once you get a throne ( I was thinking especially the first one)

E.g. If I, Olof Duke of Vastergotland, got to inherit the Kingdom of Castille from my far-away Iberian cousin, I could find wise to elect to be known then on as Pedro or Afonso by my new subjects.

I think It will add some tasty historical flavor and be not so difficult to implement.

Very excited anyway to see this new chapter of my favorite game ever :)

A great idea, and something I always wanted in CK II. I hope it's possible. :)

This ^

I got my wish for coronations in Holy Fury, but I really did want regnal names for Kingdom-tier and higher.

But how would it be in the case of one person inheriting multiple kingdoms?

Yeah when I play I usually end up holding 2-5 or even more kingdom titles. I guess it would depend on which kingdoms territory your capital is in? That'd make sense.

It would be nice for your different kingdoms to be represented as independent realms on the map rather than being represented by your primary title. Seeing France inherit Hungary and a big blue blob appearing in the middle of the Carpathians always annoyed me.

A sort of "Vassal"/"Title" view would honestly be useful. Basically peeling back the title layer to show what titles are directly under the primary one... secondary title view?

That'd be crazy useful.

This is actually a great idea. I'd love to see circumstances where you inherit a secondary kingdom but under the proviso that you 'respect its laws and rights and customs' (as has happened a lot of times) and essentially rule it seperatly to your primary kingdom, in a way much akin to EU4s unions. It wouldent be that hard to implement under even CKII mechanics. Seperate titles already have seperate laws and inheritance laws. You'd just need the colours and kingdoms to be seperated on map and the vassal trees/factions. Then perhaps you could have events and triggers where Kingdom_B's peasents or nobles get agitated or even openly rebel due to changing their laws when you said you woulden't or trying to give your Kingdom_A nobles secondary titles in Kingdom_B.

So I was thinking that something that would be really cool and quite simple to add to CK3 would be the option to select a Regnal name for your character when they become a King level title or higher. And to make it abit more immersive the choice of names could be from the following:

Previous Kings/Queens of that title
Founder of your Dynasty
Prominent Dynasty members

Let me know what the rest of you think!

Would be interesting to add a level of flavour; have even more Louis as king of France. Also could be very interesting flavour if there is some kind of playable papacy; considering cultural names could overtake the papacy, Cool to see Pope Ragnar XII or something like that.

He would be Reginar or some other Latin version. The Pope's used the Latin versions of their names to begin with before that gradually changed to taking regnal names. One would expect Ragnar to do the same.

but surely it would be interesting to have that alternate history and change the culture of the 'latin' church

I was thinking it would be useful in situations where you have a tendency to name your first child in tradition with previous rulers I.e. Henry, but say due to deaths of children you get your 3rd child say inheriting and since you did not expect them to inherit they do not have a name which fits the tradition.

Alright, you guys three have the same avatar and I thought you're the same person mumbling to yourself :D

edit: my comment is for different thread but it seems paradox merged them

I don't know, but that's a good question. :D
I do believe that the introduction and implementation of the Personal Union Dynamic is 100% the key. And it's also historical "correct" :)

Yes, with an independent coronation or enthronment for each, forcing to "negociate" with the Notables to swear to preserve their privileges each time.

Well, you CAN rename characters manually. But it would be cool to have something like the newborn child name options upon coronation, defaulting to their current name, but giving the option of previous names used in the dynasty, something tied to the culture or religion, as well as the option for the player to nominate their own.

Just like Popes do.
