Suggestions to improve Client State creation
- Add the ability to select the client states religion from a drop down menu based on what religions you have in your country

- Add the ability to select the client states primary culture from a drop down menu based on what cultures you have in your country

- Add the ability to select the client states government from a drop down menu based on what government types you have unlocked via research

Suggestions to improve vassal states
- Add the ability to change the culture of provinces that belong to vassal & client states (Increases chance of nationalist rebels in the vassal or client state, decreases relations by 25 every time its done)

- Add the ability to change the religion of provinces that belong to vassal & client states (Increases chance of nationalist rebels in the vassal or client state, decreases relations by 25 every time its done)

Just some ideas I came up with :)

I agree with the improving of client states as you put it in your first 3 points. The second ones where you would forcibly changing the religion/culture of vassals is a bit iffy with me. Maybe a better way to do it would be for vassals/client states who you have great relations with would change on their own based on your prestige/distance away from them. Then if they changed, they would become more loyal to you or something to that effect.

Made a change to the last two suggestions. What do you think?

Adding some more customization to Client States is not a bad idea, but you should not be allowed to mess around with your vassals' provinces. Annex them if you want to do that.

Perhaps it could be limited to the Absolute Monarchy and Republican Dictatorship government types? Becuase these government types would naturaly be interested in exercising as much control as possible over there vassals

This, or atleast make it take the religion of the capital province it's created from and not your Religion.

Then they should annex them.

Can we at least have subjects and particularly client states avoid permanent (or if a bit more fortunate, "only" 50-60 year) no-coring spirals due to prioritizing stability over coring :p? I'd also advocate swapping out trade or economic on client states in favor of humanist or religious so they either stomach land better or convert it.

Speaking of messing with vassal provinces, the bug where subjects just randomly stop converting religion, but will start again on reload is *extremely* prevalent. If you try to use vassals to convert consistently, you will see it every single game.

thanks for taking the suggestions Wiz :) Hopefully one day in EU4 Ill be able to make something crazy like an Irish Shinto Merchant Republic :D edit as a client state

You can do that now. Shinto is the hardest part, but I bet I could do it before 1600 if I can get fleet rights off of Korea.

What about being able to pick idea groups for your vassals and/or CS? Or at least a few if not all? Maybe I want a warlike march that fields lots of soldiers, a merchant republic or someone who can build a huge fleet to assist me? Cause atm, CS only differ in their government form, with a bit of a twist on culture/religon, which isn't even that important.

what annoys me is that client states don't take humanist or religious, which means you have to keep a constant watch out for the rebels that will absolutely rise periodically in them.

Good point, I'll have them take humanist.

It might be nice to be able to build buildings in your colonial nations provinces, though! Like if you want to invest in trade building or something specific.

I'd like to see a more interaction with colonial nations anyway. You lose a lot of colonial flavor when the CN gets all the fun events and stuff.
