Supply problems in Europe

I had this problem with my old PC and posted it, but didn't get a reply and I
never solved it. The way I worded it may have been misleading as far as what
I thought the cause of the problem was, so I wanted to rewrite it.

Since then I bought a new gamming PC. I installed Amageddon from the
Anthology CD through (windows explorer), then the 1.2 and the 1.3beta
all in (c\games\paradoxinteractive\armageddon). Followed all instructions
on installing with Vista I could find, the checksum read 1.2(VBLV) then
(1.3beta Jan 15 2009 (DVJN).

I started a Doomsday as U.S.A. with no changes to any files and the same
thing happened. All the units in Europe that start the game supplied from
(Bremen-Amsterdam-Rome-Wilhelmshafen) changed to Frankfurt-am-main
when I start the clock. Then they all run out of oil for good. The same thing
happend after the 1.2 only it changed 5 days into the game.

I know its not the PC and I dont think its the install. I have 2 questions.

1. Has anybody else had this problem ?

2. Any suggestions at all ?

I like this game but dont know if its worth the frustration that comes with it.
This could be the final straw for me.

Any replies will be greatly appreciated.

I vaguely remember your previous thread.

I have never played the Doomsday scenario but just loaded it up to take a look at what is going on. The good news is that there is nothing wrong with your game, the bad news is that this is a very poorly designed scenario considering the way the game's supply system works.

The USA has a supply (for ease of discussion oil is a part of supplies) stockpile in Frankfurt-am-Main; when the American troops are on the American owned land in Germany they will be supplied by this supply stockpile. The problem is, is that there is no way to get additional supplies to Frankfurt-am-Main; you can only send supply convoys to coastal provinces that you own (or control?? don't know this), so you can send all of the supplies you would ever need to Bremen but without a direct land connection there is no way to get them to Frankfurt.

The best solution to me would be to mod the starting scenario to give Hannover and Munster to the USA, creating a direct connection to Bremen allowing all US troops in Europe to be supplied via Bremen. You could also try and push to another port like Rostock as fast as possible, maybe the dissent the USSR gets from the nukes will offset your out of supply problems.

Now that you know it is not a Tech Support issue you could also start another thread in the Doomsday/Armageddon forum asking for solutions to either changing the scenario or strategy to deal with the cards you have.

Sorry I couldn't give you better news.
