Hey,

I switched my laptop for a surface Pro 9 and was shocked when I installed steam and EU4 and I received the system message:

The graphics card detected does not have 512MB of video memory.
Europa Universalis IV require at least 512MB of video memory to work properly

My Surface Pro 9 has a Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics Graphic Card (Graphics Memory Interface 128 bit, Graphics Memory Bandwidth 68 GB/s, Graphics Memory Speed 4267 Gbps)
other specifications of my devide
Windows 11
x64 based system
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1235U, 2500MHz, 10 cores

I hope somebody can help me, I love the game and would love to keep playing it

The message is correct, because your Intel Iris GPU has no dedicated video memory. But this should not prevent eu4 from running, because it can dynamically use your system RAM as video memory when it is needed. What exactly happens when you try to start eu4? The reason for your startup problems are likely somewhere else.

Thx for ur reply!:)
I can launch it, but i only see the “Europa Universalis IV” lettering, it seems to load a bit and then it crashes after 30min.

i tried to lower the graphic resolution and deinstalled eu4 but both didnt help

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/EU4/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

thank you,

here are the files, for errors i could find 3 files
and I dont know why but in the logs folder there was no exceptions (but there is an empty folder "exceptions" in the EU4 Folder) and the documents name dont end with ".log"

The error.log looks like you are using a broken or outdated mod or maybe a broken eu4 installation. Try to disable all mods(if you think that you have no mods, look in the playset section of the launcher to make sure, because they might have been installed and activated without your knowledge) and if that doesn't help, you can try to verify the integrity of game files and if that doesn't help, you can try a clean reinstall as described in my guide on reddit about common startup problems with version 1.29. Does that help?
