Never seen that before! How odd.

Has it always been like this for you? Or it was okay up to some point?

If you run a Steam Verify operation against the game, does it find anything to fix?

Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Plus, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

I just purchased the game a couple of days ago so it has always been like this.

Steam verify didn't find anything wrong.

Though I'm pretty sure that setup (mac running windows under parallels) isn't supported.
That's exactly correct. The video card emulation under Parallels does not meet the game's minimum requirements.

Can we ask why you are running it in Parallels rather than natively on the Mac?

I had Steam installed in Windows already. I have now installed Steam on the Mac OS and the game works fine on the Mac side. Thanks.
