Description
Camera still randomly scrolling in one direction

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1011166

What DLC do you have installed?
Space Race, Green Planet, Below and Beyond, Stellaris Dome Set, Marsvision Song Contest, Colony Design Set, Project Laika, In-Dome Buildings Pack

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Since buying this game, every 15 minutes to every hour or so the camera just starts scrolling in one direction. This makes the game literally unplayable as you can only keep the camera still at the very edge of the map. I have checked the forums back as far as 2019 and tried all the advice given to players experiencing the same unresolved bug. The suggested solutions all assumed it was a problem with the player's system, so just to clarify, Surviving Mars is the only game giving me issues like this, I do not have mods installed, I do not have a controller or joystick plugged in that I am sitting on, rebooting my computer every 15 minutes to an hour is not a bug fix, and it is not a patch-specific bug. I experienced this bug when I first bought this game last year, and I hoped with the recent sale and DLC drop that the bug may have been fixed. Unfortunately, my map started scrolling before I could land my first rocket.

The only time I have fixed the camera scrolling was by enabling and disabling free camera mode, which I still think might be related to the root problem. Unfortunately, I can't replicate that fix. The last time I tried, the free camera button did not work. The button was not greyed out, and made the sound/animation for getting clicked, but nothing actually happened when I clicked it (like normally it toggles between "on" and "off," and it would just stay as "off". If I spam clicked, I could enable free camera mode, but disabling free camera mode starts the screen scrolling again.

I just purchased the DLC for Surviving Mars because I forgot about this game-breaking bug. I otherwise love the gameplay for Surviving Mars, and would really appreciate a fix, or some direction towards a setting I can change to disable the in-game camera or whatever is causing this screen scrolling bug.

Can you replicate the issue?
2 games ago it happened about 1 hour into the game. This morning I tried a new colony and it happened before I could place my first rocket. I do not know the exact cause, or if some hidden keyboard shortcut makes the game think its in free cam mode when it isn't, but I cannot play the game normally for more than about an hour without somehow triggering it.

I can try another colony to save as soon as the camera gets stuck scrolling to submit. The only document I have for attachment is an accidental screenshot I took while trying to fix the bug (I hit F12). As you can see, I haven't even had a chance to land my first rocket, so it must has something to do with the camera navigation.

As I understand it the developers could never reproduce this problem, so it remains unaddressed I'm afraid. I've never seen it in over 200 hours' play for instance.

You are probably right that there is some item or utility or driver on your machine triggering this, hard to guess what it might be though.

Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Plus, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

I appreciate the quick reply, Andrew. I will post the most recent game log and a DXDIAG file when have some down time :)

I purchased the game today and I already have this issue.
You can see what might be causing it mentioned above, and what files might help us pin it down for you. Are you having trouble finding them or something?
