Linux/Steam: Crash to desktop on save

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
At auto-save OR after going to menu, save, creating new save, and confirming to save filename, game crashes to desktop.
I saw this before Opportunity and could get around it by opening older saves, so it may be something to do with the way the save file is loaded. The same save files that led to these crashes before Opportunity were just fine and playable after Opportunity (until today). Going back to a slightly older save seems to work today, too. Both are attached. (I had to rename the crash log to .log to get it to upload.)
(I have no mods.)
System info is also attached from running the command "inxi -SPARM -GCDN -v1 -xGCRS" shortly after the game crashed. OS is Ubuntu 18.04LTS.
Can you replicate the issue?
Yes. It crashes on save / autosave every time when loading this saved game (attached as "crashingsave"). Procedure: Load saved game. Save from menu. Crash just after confirming filename.
Loading an earlier save (attached as "goodsave") seems to save fine.
