Description
Mac user, can no longer use F3/F4 to multitask

Mac

Steam

What is your game version?
? Credits is not an option under Options (Display, Video, Audio, Display, Gameplay, Key Binding)

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
The Mac F3/F4 functions quit working just today, worked fine earlier. Temporary fix is to run windowed rather than full screen.

I only play 2 other Steam games. Cities:Skylines and Civilization VI. Both continue to work regarding F3/F4 functionality. Un-installed and re-installed Surviving Mars, still broke.

I'm in the Steam Beta program. Built Mar 26,2018, at 14:30:04, API v018, package versions 1522101301. Surviving Mars has worked since then, but is now broke.

No mods added or deleted.

I have figure out my current version of both Cities:Skylines and Civilization VI. It shows my current version on start-up. I haven't seen that in Surviving Mars. The Steam Version History for all of these games is more marketing information than technical info. The first thing I want to see is, "You are running version XXX."

Can you replicate the issue?
With ease.

I forgot to add my Mac Specs:

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2015)
2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
16GB memory
Intel lIris Pro 6200 1536MB

BTW, Surviving Mars runs really well, especially compared to Cities:Skylines.

It is absolutely there on my iMac, right after Key Bindings.

Please try with the current public release of Steam (just updated today in fact), we don't support use of beta versions.

So, as you can see, I'm not on drugs; yet you fail to respond; fine. If I run Windowed mode F3 works fine, so I can play the game. Just because you aren't willing to admit a problem exits doesn't mean there isn't a problem. Just because "...we don't support use of beta versions." doesn't mean Huston doesn't has a problem.

Having said that, Surviving Mars preforms extream well on my Mac. Much better than Cities:Skylines, and better than Civilization VI (my only other benchmarks.) I'm not a whiner, I'm trying to advance the game. To me, you're trying to pass the buck with your "beta" comments. I'm on your side, I'm trying to help.

BTW, in fiddling around, I did see my Surviving Mars version once, it is version 228,184. Still, I stand by my pic, and I consider this a minor inconvenience. Your loss for not responding in the appropriate manor. The reason I didn't respond earlier is because I've had a ball all day building my colony. Cheers!

I believed you, don't worry! But this seems to be an only-you issue, I fear, rather than a general game bug on MacOS say.

Did you try with the official Steam version? You might have to do a clean re-install of the game, or at least a Steam Verify against the game, after that.

My Steam version is current (you may call it beta, but I request you provide the version of Steam that you support, you know what version of Steam I'm running, perhaps a bit too current for your tastes.) Please see my earlier comments as to my specific Steam version. Steam hasn't updated since this conversation began. When I first encountered the problem, I un-installed Surviving Mars and re-installed it, no change, though it may have given me my momentary glimpse to my version of Surviving Mars.

Just ran "integrity of game files" and that did not appear to change anything. So I ask, what is the "official Steam version?", you know mine.

Sorry if I sound like a Dick, but you haven't advanced the conversation, IMHO.

BTW, I don't doubt it's an "only me" situation, I'm thinking about those that follow. As I've said before, I'm only trying to help. The initial Mac support was a bit troubling and I waited till I felt it was worth investing in Surviving Mars. Now that I ponied up, I'm committed.

I'm simply trying to get you onto the same Steam version as I and pretty much everyone else is. Having tested these issues under it you are of course free to go back into the beta, as presumably it fixes some problem you are having.

FYI my Steam client says:
Built Mar 26 2018 at 14:30:04
Steam API: v018
Steam package versions: 1522101301

Fair enough. How about "only you so far as we know, thus far"? My main point is that it (the missing Credits menu) is not a bug affecting all users or all Mac users.

Once again, if you re-read my original post, we've been on the same Steam version all along. The beta issue was never an issue and you never should have brought it up. You could have said, "I see we're on the same Steam version, so that is not an issue." See how much more helpful that would have been? Sorry for sounding like a crusty old fart, but too many times "customer support" looks for a reason not to support (we don't support beta). It not just you, it's most customer support.

Having said that, I don't expect you to solve my problems, just work with me. That would have made this a much shorter conversation. Once I found a workaround, my technical problem was solved.

I've just made my last Curtatoes and the Earth is safe. And no, I'm not sending any more for a measly 200 Mars bucks :)

Great game, though Wildfire was a bit stressful. My colony is rebuilding, so life is good.
