Description
MASSIVE STUTTERING ONLY WHEN TIME IS RUNNING, ONLY IN GREEN PLANET DLC

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
1010784

What DLC do you have installed?
Green Planet

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
So I started off playing the main game, was having great fun and took over almost the whole map in my game.
Then I downloaded the Green Planet DLC and started a new game and was loving it until about SOL48, when the game began to stutter, or freeze the screen every 2 to 5 seconds, but only when the play button is turned on, so only when time is flowing does this happen. I can scroll around the map when its in pause mode with no problem, but the stuttering once i hit play makes it unplayable now. I am not using any mods, I only have the main game and the Green Planet DLC.

I tried updating my drivers, clearing all temp files, rebooting, even lowering the graphics quality to bare bones and it had no effect.

The one odd thing is that my saved game from before that does NOT include Green Planet DLC still plays fine at full speed and that saved game had much more progress and stuff moving all over the place than this current stuttering Green Planet DLC save.

Can you replicate the issue?
I haven't tried to sit down and play another game and put in so many hours, no.

I'm not aware of this as a known issue with that DLC.

Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Plus, DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Hopefully deleting that drone will get past it?

Not sure what to make of those 'persist' errors in the long, that's new to me. If you run a Steam Verify operation against the game, does that find anything to fix?

So there's a drone somewhere that I need to turn to scrap? How do i find that drone? Sorry not sure if you were talking to me or the other dev.
So hey guys, are you still looking into this or is there something specific i need to do to get it to work?
I'll dig around for it when I have some free time (I don't work for Paradox).

Hey so what's the verdict on this? Steam Verify shows nothing wrong.
Is the Green Planet DLC just broken and I shouldn't bother playing it?
Is there just some item somewhere causing this that I need to delete?
I'd like to start playing again, at least knowing its not pointless to play when it eventually does this every time.

The redoubtable Choggi has said he'll look into your save when he gets time. In the past he's generally been able to fix any such problems.

Why this keeps happening to you,sas you say it does, but not to everyone all the time is a mystery,I have to say.

Given there's just been a new patch you could try starting a new colony now?

I wonder if the problem has to do with the RC Dozers i had that stopped working and so i deleted them.
I have tried starting from scratch now, and im past sol60 with no slowdown, and i didnt bother with the dozers this time, just used drones.
So im wondering if the dozers were the issue.

Sorry for taking so long, its something to do with shuttlehubs, as soon as you demo them all the lag is gone. Build one and it's back again. Not sure what's causing it though.
Thanks for getting back to me about this.
I noticed the problem again as i started a new game and got to about the 90 sols time, its constantly stuttering now, not even in intervals, just random constant.
Is my PC just not badass enough for all the shuttles and drones moving around?
Im assuming thats why its slowing down, but i always thought slowdown usually was connected to how much was onscreen at the time. Zoomed in, the slowdown continues, and even changing to lowest quality graphics doesnt fix it.

  • MINIMUM:
    • Processor: 4th Generation Intel i3 CPU or equivalent
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: HD 4600/Geforce 620/Radeon 6450 or equivalent GPUs with 1 GB of video RAM
  • RECOMMENDED:
    • Processor: 5th Generation Intel i5 CPU or equivalent
    • Memory: 8 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Geforce 750 Ti or equivalent with 4GB of video RAM
So certainly your memory and GPU are more than sufficient. CPU is a bit harder to judge but it seems equivalent to the minimum requirement at least.

Run up Task manager-performance, then start the game in windowed mode so you can see TM. When this problem happens, do you see anything maxing out - CPU, GPU, anything else?
