Description
Surviving Mars keeps crashing on Steam

Windows

Steam

What is your game version?
249143
Do you have Space Race installed?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
As I am playing my game, the screen will freeze for a second or two and then close out.

This may be a larger issue with my PC and Steam as I've seen another game (Civ V) also crashing.

Radeon RX 580 Series
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core Processor

Can you replicate the issue?
It will happen randomly as I am playing my saved game.

Does it also happen if you start a new test colony? IOW is it confined to this one save?

Immediately after the next such crash, Please attach here the latest (ONLY!) game log file, from here:
C:\Users\{Username}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\logs\
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Plus, DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

I can try a new colony to see if it happens again. In the meantime, I have attached my game log file of my latest crash, which just happened again, and the DXDIAG file.

Thanks for looking into this with me.

I started a new colony and played for about 20 minutes when I got a blue screen crash with the Stop code: INTERRUPT EXEPTION NOT HANDLED.

I had this PC built a couple months ago. For the first couple weeks after I got it home, I saw a number of blue screen crashes playing Steam games and browsing the internet. After bringing it back in to be repaired, I was told that a memory setting needed correcting. It's worked fine for the past couple months since then, but now I've had two blue screen PC crashes in the past 2 weeks playing Surviving Mars. I'm prepared to bring my PC back in to be looked at again if needed.

I've attached the latest DirectX Diagnostic file and game log since this latest crash. Thank you again for helping me look into this.

I got a blue screen crash with the Stop code: INTERRUPT EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED.
This is almost certainly a hardware problem, as you suspect, although drivers can cause this as they interact with hardware directly.

The easiest hardware problem is overheating;
Please report the temperatures of your CPU and video (GPU)
1/ before starting the game up and
2/ after say 10 minutes' play.
If your PC's vendor has given you no way of reading temperatures, install
SPEEDFAN http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php

If it never gets to or over 80c on either device then I'm afraid it's time to take it to the shop again.

Sorry about that!

No worries! This is really helpful, thanks.

I installed SpeedFan. My GPU reading was around 51c - 54c before starting the game, and got to around 58-60c after 10 minutes of playing the game. Does the fact that it is not getting any higher imply that the hardware is not working properly?

Sorry I missed your response here.

Yes, sadly, if it is not overheating there is a problem with a driver or hardware. You probably need professional help at this point.

Sorry about that!
