Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Hey I noticed an issue, since seniors still count towards how many specialists you have the university sometimes (most of the time) doesn't train the type you need. Maybe set senior colonists to no specialisation or create a senior class.
Not sure if it's a bug that all seniors count towards how many of each you have but it is confusing as hell

Can you replicate the issue?
It's constant in my game, as I said not sure if really a bug or a general issue and have no way to check

That's a good point. Seniors and children who aren't in "the work force" shouldn't be counted as specialists. In face, I'd argue that when a colonist becomes a senior, they should lose their specialist rating and become a generalist at that point.

There is a breakthrough research that allows seniors to continue working until they die, so this issue isn't quite black and white. How did you verify this bug? I was under the impression that the "needed" amount for a specialization in the university corresponds to the number of currently open work slots (that is, slots in open shifts) that benefit from that specialization. Then, once the work slots are filled by that specialization, the number of that "needed" specialization in the university goes down. This would mean that seniors should never count towards this number since they won't be able to fill the work slots (assuming you don't have the research allowing seniors to work).

I have not noticed this issue on xbox, but I will definitely try to pay more attention if this is reproducible on my console.
