The invoice you got should tell you.

However if it is a relatively new computer chances are VERY good that it is a 56K modem. That is pretty much all they make now for regular dial up modems.
 
Yes one rarely get 56K out of a 56K modem. :)
Then again, I rarely get 3meg out of my 3meg modem. ;)
 
Basically if you cannot get DSL (High Speed Phone line) or a Cable modem, then 56K is the best you can do.
 
An option if it is available however I got the impression from the earlier post that it was not.

Well you could try it, or you could connect two computers directly.

Give her a password of her own.
 
You can set up another account for her to log in with. She would have her own password and desktop.
 
You need a lan card in each. Check with your local Computer store they can help you out.
