Taxes and Tolls

How will be collection of taxes handled? Will vassals come and bring what's they owe, or will you need to send a tax collector? How effective will that be, let's say 200 miles away from the capital?

Road tolls and trade tolls? Who's gonna get what and in what proportion?

I suggest that taxes and tolls be determined by the Lords, after all merchants paid for the privilaged of doing the business in their terrorities. I should start read the books on that time Period, I am forgotting too many details, I must getting to be senile. Anyway, I think that Lord should determines the level of taxes and tolls but more lord put taxes on people, morale of people should go down, and too high tax cause lower income because what they have left to spend? Economy should decline after passing a certain level.

Also, how about adding the exepmt status for certain merchants? Like, the way Denmark, England, etc granted the league the privilige of doing the business in their terrorities.

This could be done by some laws/edicts. Introduce the edict--> relations with Hansa et al go up, maybe lower trade tolls/higher income?
