I noticed that there are tech groups in research folder. Saw them when I was fixing the research bug. Someone mentioned that a better fix for the research bug was to adjust the tech groups to have values other than 1.0. Seems like a good idea ala EU, with certain cultures gaining a benefit to research.

What should the corresponding tech groups have as their values? And should the RP from Citizen still be 2.5 (or so).

Has the Devs made a mention of this game functions. Someone mentioned that the Devs stated that 2.5 was the correct RP_Cit value.

The difference between the two methods is minor, however there has been some mention that upping the citizens-RP value makes some of the research bonuses ingame trivial. You shouldn't use both at the same time, as this will accelerate research too much. I chose 1.4 as a setting for all cultures in the common\technology.txt, and after much testing, this seems to be a good value.

Also the reason they are all the same in Rome is because of civilisation value. Civ value effectively adjusts the research gained. At least that is the intention. It seems civ value raises far to fast in vanilla though. Hence Macadonia colonizing Poland.

I don't entirely get this. All those bonuses seem to be applied *after* the number of RPs you get from the citizens is calculated.

lol...I don't really either, I just chose the technology.txt method in case there was actually some merit to it. I don't see much of a difference between the two, and they're both easily implemented.
