Also, aren't the research costs dependent on what year it is? I thought there was a balancing 'fudge factor' that made it hard to get too far ahead and also too far behind for the particular time period you are in.

Huszics, I don't understand your tech chart.
If your land base cost is say 200 and cost for next techlevel 25, total research cost is 25x200=5000 D (not counting inflation).
