I have a technical problem that I need your help with please.

Game Version & Patch (incl. publisher):
I`m using the german version 1.00 (CRWK)

OS & build/SP:
I`m using Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) with Service Pack 2


Computer, CPU & speed:
Intel Pentium 4 with 2,66 GHz


RAM:
512 MB RAM


Free HDD space:
33,3 GB


Video (brand, model, driver, memory):
Radeon 9600 /w driver v. 6.14.0010.6512 (Englisch) and 128 MB Video RAM

I read the stickies but I still have the following problem:
Ok, I`ll try it in (bad)english…
When I launch the game It`s loaded sucessfully.But when I`m in the main menu, my Hard Disk is still busy (the LED is flickering) and the cursor is jumping, when I try to move it (no smooth motion). After about 1 Minute I CRASH TO MY DESKTOP.
The same happens, when I try to start a szenario, a tutorial or a campaign.
Please help me…pretty please…with sugar on top

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.
 
hello, the problem isn`t solved. It`s still there and I`m getting mad about this.
I have downloaded a new video driver, but i can`t find a audio driver for my onboard sound (Board: Asus P4-XE).
What can i do?

Another thing is, that the same problem occurs, when i try to play HoI 1.
A year ago, i had HoI 1 installed on my computer (the same one as today) and i works fine. No problems, a month ago i installed HoI 1 and that f*** problem was there.

I`ll be so thankful fpr your help.

Okay lets take a more indepth view and see whats going on.

First have you patched to 1.1 your first posts says 1.00.

Please run a DirectX Diagnostic:
Start menu –Run - then type Dxdiag, then select each tab across the top of the window, and run the tests on each tab. Then select “Save All Information” button in the lower right of the window. This will bring up a dialog box to allow you to select a name for the file where the information will be saved. You can save it right on the desktop as this will make it easy to find. Then copy the contents of that file from the start to the heading that says “DirectX components” then paste what you have copied into a post in this thread.

Keep the AVI folder renamed and now rename the music folder in the same way.
 
Making progress here!

You should still have sound, just not music.
You can try the music with another player running in the background,
Or try and hunt down a new driver for your onboard sound, either from the sound card manu. or the MB manu.

It could also be possible to play the music if you experiment with the sound acceleration which you find in the Dxdiag program.
