I was wondering whether the Dynasty of the Knights Templar and the other Knightly orders would be playable, or Even the Assassins and their fabled old man of the mountain. These were powerful factions in the age of the Crusades, so I would think it should be an option.

On to my other question, I read somewhere in a review or something that CK would be able to be converted into EU II after the game is played through. Now is that true or just a fairy tale? If such was possible though that would be very, very cool. (kind of dissapointed that an EUII game can't be converted to Victoria, but oh well.)

Lastly, when is CK coming out?

The Military Orders are not playable but are controlable (to what extent has not been stated).

Yes, there is supposed to be a converter from CK to EU II. I am sure some ambitious soul will come up with a converter to go from EU II to Victoria.:)

all nine warriors i hear... not all that magnificient until jerusalem had been taken ;)

which means, i guess, that it could be founded by whoever takes jerusalem first... a little extra bonus to motivate a rush there.. ?

The main problem here is that there were no Dynasty of either of these orders. They were monks with wows of chastity, and had no offspring... This is also why you cannot play e.g. the Templars, since in CK you control the Dynasty. You might be able to edge your cousin in as Grandmaster though... ;)

Only feudal Christian dynasties are playable. This means that any muslim rulers (to which I also count the Assassins), merchant republics and eccelsiastical rulers (like the Papacy) are not.

There has been talk about such a feature, yes...

Lastly, when is CK coming out?

But will the assassins be in the game as a state? They always confused the hell out of me...

IMHO they probably should be in. They were a factor in the middle eastern world.:)

That would be great but if there is going to be one converter there should be a converter between every game in order of CK->EUII->Victoria->HOI
imagine almost 1000 yrs of gameplay

Is any1 actualy taking these converters seriously or is it just a subject of speculation?
hopefully someone will create one for EUII->Victoria->Hoi considering those games are already out it is realy needed

i doubt a victoria -> hoi converter could or should be done as HoI is striclty a ww2 game.. and if a conversion would be made from vicky to hoi then ww2 will most probably NOT happen

or just comparing realworld endings with game endings, russia:

EU2: 5 million man army (within support limits!), Conscription centers in all provinces, full core (+greek!), Constantinopel still greek (took it before turks!), 50+ booze manufuctories (trade bonus!). City, major, legal, tax in all +atleast minimum fort in all.
Spread to greece, anatolia, levant & ethiopia/tripoli. Austarlia, alaska, canada. Incas, Aztecs. Southafrica. Finland, greenland & north norway.
Full infra & trade since 1680. All orthodox.

wonder what that would be converted into? ;)

It seems clear that players could control someway Military Orders. How many of them will be finally in the game?. Could it be possible for mighty kings with Papal allowance to create new ones?. What about heressy and different Popes in command, would the Orders be splitted between loyal supporters and adversaries?

I wanna be able to control my Templars

At least make them editable so you can play :(

You will be able to control them, but you won't be able to play them

As I've said since day one of this game (I know, it's been a long time  ) I'm sure you will be able to edit the scenarios to make anybody playable. The problem is, if Paradox gets to many Dynasty specific screens, you could have crash bugs. But Muslim dynasties, (ala Almohads, Seljuks, Ottomans) you might be able to play after editing the scenario.

But they would behave like a Christian dynasty, you couldn't get yourself four wives. :(

I seriosly doubt
Imagine that you play EU2: as France you take in 1480 Tunis..you hold it till 1700..when you loose it to British..and in 1750 they release Tunis as their vassal. Definitely there must have been cultural/religious changes during this ere - and now that savegame does not keep track on them, the game converted to Victoria would be too innacurate.

Other point - the WW2 in HoI is simply too hardcoded. If in Victoria you change history too much, the WW2 would be an nonsense....

But what could be interesting - is the era BEFORE 1066..imagine old celtic and saxon kingdoms in british isles..viking raids..

It maynot be exactly within the context of the original questions, but I'm wondering if the Assassins are sorta controlable.... if in fact they are in the game?

And how easy will assassination be if it is in the game? Personally I would hope it is very hard to pull off, but should be in the game.

As has been stated above the Assissins were 1. Muslim and 2. Not a Feudal dynasty, thus you can't play them and probably not control them either, but they should be in the game, though if they exist as a state or just as some events I can't really say...
And hopefully assassination in general is included...

i doubt EUII->Vic converter is possilbe to do. I mean, Vic has pop and political systems.
