I posted this a few weeks back in the forums but realize this is probably the section for it. Terrain Painting tools would add so much to the base game when it comes to creating unique areas of your city. With just the 5 basic textures of Grass, Dirt (already in the game so no excuse lol) as well as Sand, Rock and Asphalt/pavement, we could create beaches, desert outskirts, mountain trails, add detail around industrial areas, fill in gaps in the pavement between different assets, create towns with no grass around them, roughen the edges around roads, Also once it is in the base game console players could enjoy it and then modders would take it from there, adding in their own textures.

Other textures modders could add in include Gravel, Wood Chips, Garbage/debris, burned grass, etc.

But yeah, Terrain painting would add so much to players wanting to create unique sections of their cities with their own personalized stories. I'd liken the base game to playing Planet Zoo without being able to modify the terrain texture. The mechanics are still fun to engage with, but invariable most zoos/cities end up looking the same as other players.

i forgot to mention in my OG post, but along with painting the terrain with a brush, it would be amazing to have a shape-fill tool, where we could (as an example) drag out a rectangle in the middle of our city and fill that crisp rectangle with Asphalt, giving it a newly laid look. Or if we use the brush, it softens the edges, giving it a sense of asphalt thats being reclaimed by nature. A shape-fill would add so much quality of life to any terrain painting tools you potentially add in.

Lastly? an invisible path would be the cherry on top, allowing us to create areas where citizens walk around off the beaten path (like on a mountain trail we just painted in around our forest) etc.

what you ask for is already built into the game. At the moment you can only access it by adding the -developerMode argument to the shortcut. But once enabled , you can draw custom polygons on the ground and fill them with any of the textures in the game . Once placed you can edit these polygons in the same way as the custom industries area tool works. Also in effect plop the growables is also in there plus Find It and the ability to place any prop in the game. See latest video by Biffa that demonstates this in use. Hope this helps.
