This might be unnecessary, but I wanted to say thank you to you and the others on this thread.
My wife brought me HoI2 over the weekend and I have been happily playing the AI on the basic version since.
I also brought the original HoI a few years back and mustve had an unplayable copy. It caused me to have some reservations. Reading this particular thread from front to back answered a lot of my questions about the game and most importantly the patches ...only need 1.3a..got it. It also erased my concerns about investing my time in the game.
I will wait until I finish the thoroughly enjoyable thrashing I am giving the Germans (okay they did hand me my head on a plate first up when they destroyed my Ark Royal/KGV task force) before I load the patch.
