@Ozymandious and I were discussing this topic in discord and I wanted to bring the fruits of that discussion here for comment and clarification.
The current State of Game for BATTLETECH Multiplayer is as good as it will get... and that in reality is very, VERY good at least when a Match can be completed.
Thank you Team HBS.
Over the years I’ve highly encouraged and even outright pushed HBS to improve BATTLETECH Multiplayer Stability, especially post-Launch Match Stability. And here lately I’ve worked with some of our best Modders on the issue of improving BATTLETECH Multiplayer Match Stability again with a focus on post-Launch Stability which used to be much, much better. (For a fact I know my BATTLETECH Multiplayer BETA connectivity was much better than what we have now. I kept records back then you see.)
But there is a little-realized competing factor here.
BATTLETECH Features and Game Mechanisms have improved and increased so much so that BATTLETECH Multiplayer has been on a downward Stability Curve. And neither HBS nor our marvelous Modders have been able to change that reality.
To Team HBS’s great credit, they gave us the very best they could in those last few BATTLETECH patches. HBS has tried to improve Stability, but the curve of game features and mechanisms has (as we BATTLETECH Multiplayer gamers see on a daily basis) overcome even their best efforts. And our Modders are similarly stymied.
It is not easy for me to accept, but BATTLETECH Multiplayer is as Stable as it will ever be.
Given that, there are some things we can do. For the first year of BATTLETECH I used an old, minimally capable computer. I got a new computer and had an immediate 100%’ish improvement in game stability and graphics quality. I was genuinely surprised at how much Stability improved. Similarly a new Internet Provider may improve Stability... then again, depending on the Provide, Stability might take a hit too. #BuyerBeware
