I'm not much of a gamer, as evidenced by the computer I play on (a late-2012 MacBook Pro), but I really enjoy this game. I recently watched the Future of Surviving Mars - Q&A video and I was surprised at how often they apologized to Mac and Linux users! I'm always happy there even IS a Mac version and I'm really having a lot of fun trotting through Mars. Especially since there's no defined end-goal that makes me feel guilty about restarting and, even though I've now started four or five separate missions, it doesn't feel too repetitive. I like being able to learn in an earlier mission and go "oh wow I should have done it this way" and then galumphing off to a new mission!

So again, thanks Paradox. I look forward to spending my upcoming 3-day weekend perfecting my colonies.

EDIT: As a "not much of a gamer" I obviously missed the memo that the REAL THANKS goes to Haemimont Games. As they've been so willing to fix their game, I'd be remiss if I didn't fix this post. Sadly, I can't fix the title, but I can edit the top post.

SO THANKS to Haemimont Games for making such a lovely game and being willing to fix things I either didn't notice, or was willing to just work around in every playthrough.

I may be wrong but Paradox did not make this game. They are only the publishers. Haemimont are the ones that did the programming. Why Paradox publish and not Haemimont themself have no idea. Cost to publish to much perhaps?

Well, regardless of the nuances, I'm happy this exists - and that my relatively old Mac can run it.

I can't delete the thread to make the proper thanks, nor can I edit the thread title, but I DO want to give credit where credit is due and updated the main post to reflect that. Thanks for pointing out my error!

No problem. And i agree it is good game. Never been a fan of city building games but playing surviving mars Maybe have to reconsider that.
I love simulation games so much, but I get bored with them very quickly because I tend to follow similar paths through them. Surviving Mars won’t let me do that, which is awesome. PLUS no fighting! I love that there’s no fighting.

I fully agree with the author. I understand people get bored playing the game as it takes a lot to think in advance not to fail. Not a Flop Duck or whatever. And the fact that they forced themselves to make a Mac version.. Thank you.
I play on low settings as my mac, unfortunately, is not beyond a gamer's imagination. So I wonder if it 'hurts' my mac playing it over all? As once I was told heavy games can damage a weak pc quite hard. My specs are i5, 2,6 GHz, 8 ГБ, Intel Iris 1536 МБ.

Publishing is generally very expensive. There are also a lot of publishers that have a very bad reputation because of the way they interfere with game development. Paradox on the other hand is probably the only publisher with a good reputation. Which means publishing with Paradox is itself a potential boon for the game. Assuming you meet the Paradox quality standards, which are a big part of why they have a good rep.

Hi,

I'm interested that you appear to have been playing this on the same Mac that I have - I've read so many people complaining that they are having problems with graphics and other issues on a range of Macs that it's really put me off downloading it. So I just wanted to ask whether you have had any problems with the quality of graphics etc or has everything been as it should have been from the start?

Would appreciate your comments - thanks.
