So, the news sucks. Not gonna lie and say I'm fine with it or I support it or any of that jazz. The news sucks, the game was looking better than ever and honestly I think if Paradox lifted a finger to market the 2.0 update the player numbers would have been much higher than they currently are. But alas, they didn't and here we are.

I just wanted to say thank you to the entire Imperator: Rome team, past, and... well I guess they're all past team members now but you catch my drift. From Johan to Arheo to Katzuran and Snow Crystal, Sofia and Jonatan and everyone in between. You did a fantastic job and I would not have created over 1000 videos about the game if you had not.

I truly hope that you all find your feet in whichever game you find yourselves working on next, and if it's EU4 can you please introduce a pop system cheers thx.

For the future, I encourage the modders of this fantastic game to continue, I guess now safe in the knowledge that your work won't be upended by a 1.2 or 2.0 scale update. I look forward to seeing what you guys produce. I'll certainly be covering it on my channel :)

So long, you fine folks. Ave, you beautiful Imperators you!

Agreed, I enjoyed what they did with 2.0 and the development of the game so far.

I'm just salty we never end up getting a fully developed PDX game around the classical world. Similar things happened with EU:Rome and now in Imperator.
I guess this formula they developed is not appealing to a larger playerbase.

Thank you to every dev involved in this project since it´s inception, and also let´s thank Paradox for allowing 6 updates to be released, unlike March of the Eagles, Sengoku, etc. Imperator Rome has been really lucky and I´m grateful for that.

This game is one of my favourite GSG games period, and I pray for news in 2022.

Thank you devs and everyone who made this possible.

Wholeheartedly agree with Mr Lambert. Also, I think to he I:R forum is the best one on here that I visit.

The tone is generally pleasant, and the people nice.

The game will line on through us playing it.

Ye, it's pretty sad.

GL for Imperator devs on their future projects, they had a rough start but in the end, I think they ended on a good note (is Imperator the only PDX game with all content DLC having positive reviews?) and I'm confident they will make other games better.

@Snow Crystal My Lord, please come to CK3 and grant us those Holy Fury map/culture tweaks that are not present there :p

Already did it in the thread where the sad news were announced, but again a big "Thank you!" to all involved in the development of IR. I'm deeply sad about what I consider the final end (for the reasons see my post in the other thread), but that doesn't take away the fun I had and have with IR - which was also the game opening my "personal door" to Paradox GSGs.

This is so sad, I have no words to express it.
Thank you for finding the right ones, Lambert. I wholeheartedly agree with all you said.

EDIT: All the best, Snow Crystal!

Throwing my voice in here too, echoing @Torugu. I:R's development team has been the absolute star team of PDS in terms of delivering. Content has been solid and hit the nail on almost everything. The dedication and vision has been second to none, and the team has hoisted it from a competent but bland board game in the vein of EU4 to stand on its own two feet as the best game in the current PDX lineup.

I proclaim them all Augusti!

I second (third?) this whole-heartedly. Considering the uphill battle the team here has faced more or less constantly since Day 1, and considering what they had to work with, Imperator's dev team has gone far above and beyond. Even if I'm disappointed that many elements of the game will remain underdeveloped/unfinished, I still recognize that, right now, I have a game that I went from not caring at all about at launch to one I've sunk 200 hours into. That says a whole lot about both the skill and the dedication of the dev team, and it's the kind of effort that originally drew me to Paradox games in the first place, 16 (?!) years ago.

The games that are getting reinforced by the Imperator dev team are incredibly fortunate, and I can't wait to see what they do next. While I understand PR speak better than most (I have a Master's in stratcomm, so I can practically speak it in my sleep) and concur with people who think this "temporary" reassignment is likely to be on the more permanent side of things, I would also love to be proven wrong. Few things would make me happier than to see a triumphant all-hands-on-deck return to development on Imperator: Rome in 2022.

Thank you Imperator: Rome dev team. The trip this game made from release to 2.0 was akin to the Odyssey. It was an epic. A work of true passion. It wasn't always easy, and the game didn't always fulfil its potential, but we got to see glimpse the possibilities of a true Paradox-fanbase feedback loop with you guys that I feel has never been done before by a big studio. By 2.0 the game was reaching that potential and could've really broken into its own strides. Alas...

I'm heartbroken to see the team disbanding like this, but all good things come to an end. I hope you guys take the lessons learned on Imperator to the other titles you're off to go work on.

Good luck. Much love. Hope to see you soon. I'll end my sorrows for the night by repeating my post from the Meme Is There Will Be thread.

"There was a dream that was Rome. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile."
