I have been playing HOI since its inception and I am now playing one of the most difficult USSR games that I have ever played. Snow has started falling in the north and the Panzers have finally slowed just before Moscow. I have gone through 100s of games without losing a division but this one has humbled me. With the "Great Patriotic War" event, I can feel a little hope now

Did you take out Finland and/or other minors?

I found a gamey tactic=

-Deploy all your mobile forces south.
-Try to beat Romania and Bulgaria ASAP so that they switch sides
-Withdraw ASAP.

This of course using defense in depth - keep some divs on second line duties.

That way I found a flaw=

German AI never really reinforces the broken front:
As soon as I encircle a dozen of divisions somewhere, my tanks are able to break through and seize Berlin while the whole Wehrmacht keeps fighting for some more swampy provinces...
