Hello,

I know the game is called Europa Universalis IV, but could the developers please make it be at least interesting to play the AAA in the vanilla version of the game? I for one would like to enjoy taking somewhere like Mali, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe or Maya, Cherokee or Aztec and seeing if I can raise them to stand up to the alien invasions to come, and it would be particularly interesting to see how the new trade system could be used to that end. The Asian nations usually fair better... and I look forward to seeing what's done with China, but let's have cultures in the other three continents also be worth a play, eh?

Please thank you thank you please and apologies for outrageous and unseemly demands, no offense intended and thank you.

I've had a ton of fun playing asian nations in EU3, however I mostly do it in the MEIOU mod which does add a lot of flavour to the game as a whole.

So here's hoping Paradox makes an effort to spice things up for the world beyond Europe, it's a pretty interesting challenge once you've been playing the game for a few years and gotten bored of inventing new ways to destroy Sweden as Norway.

will give MEIOU a try, I usually have to stop playing when I can no longer bring myself to play a European nation again, let alone the usual big-hitters.

I've had a great game as Mali using Magna Mundi mod - factions and completely reworked westernisation system made for really immersive experience, despite Mali being quite isolated. Hopefully EU4 would be more complex enough to make sub-Saharan states entertaining to play with. You can check (unfinished) AAR here.

As long as Asia is very different to (non-northern) Africa & America. In 1500 it shouldn't be preordained that all the superpowers of 1800 would come from Western Europe. Chinese, Japanise, Indian, Arab & Persian learning, knowledge and organisation were all comparable with that in Europe, or at least close enough to make it possible for an empire to arise which could hold back the European tide.

However illiterate countries should only be able to obtain local short-term ambitions (and if they westernise possibly go from where they were, through EU3:Rome tech and reach CK2 level tech).

I'm hoping that the NA tribes get a complete overhaul in how they're handled. Trying to shoehorn them into the European state model (as was done in EU3) is silly and makes them easy to conquer.

Barring that, I think they can be best represented as a non-playable indirect faction through events, provincial modifiers, etc.

I agree. Though I think it should be possible to negotiate with them.

I think there needs to be a system for "irregular" entities, states that do not conventionally hold territory. This might also include the Cossacks, Siberian tribes...
