Im playing around with the road editor but it gets really slow fast. It chews through my RAM almost like I'm on a gameboy. It seems like something's not quite right?

Are you running mods and assets at the same time? A lot of mods weren't made to be used in the editors and do a lot of unintended stuff. Best to turn them off. You can use the launch options to easily do this - use "-noWorkshop" and/or "-disableMods" without the qoutation marks.
