Summer time or Daylight saving time has finished now in most of the northern hemisphere but is starting now in some places in the southern hemisphere like parts of Australia. Those crazy Australians do things backwards because they are upside down compared to most of us :)

See http://www.timeanddate.com/time/dstevents.html for details.

A benefit of this is that the UK is now back on GMT rather than being on British Summer Time. So if a game start time is posted as GMT, this is the local time in the UK as well as true GMT.

Historical note - these changes are an ill-effect of the world wars, like income tax and female emancipation :) Fortunately, HoI ignores it within the game - its clock is constant GMT and never changes. The USA actually did something like that in WW2. From 3 Feb 1942 to 30 Sep 1945 most of United States had DST all year, it was called "War Time".

Hooray, I can again post times in GMT and not be wrong! :)

I was under the impression that it was the evil frenchmen who introduced summer time clock to Europe...(?)

Later, when everyone else finally adopted it, they abandoned it for some time (not enough to brag about if everyone has it, I guess?).

Edit: ouch: I turned this into a historical thread. The mods are gonna hunt me down with bloodhounds now....
