This is my first ever AAR, so bear with me if its a little lackluster. I chose South Africa cause my dad was raised there
and because it isn't done very often.
Country: South Africa
Version: 1.03b
Note: I may put in the "war" cheat if need be, if so I will inform you guys of it.
I Jan C. Smuts, head of intel, chief of security, and chief of army will do my utmost to make
South Africa more than a meager commonwealth nation and will keep track of the
progress it makes in my diary.
January 1, 1936: A new year dawns over the tense world. I believe the world
will descend into a second great bloodletting. However this could be to our advantage.
With much focus being on Germany and Italy and the ingenuitive Japanese maybe it will
be possivle to create an empire out of the chaos that will ensue. South Africa however,
be in no position to expand for a long while. We have started improving ifnrastructure in
the inland provinces, but otherwise left everything as is. We have only two divisions, and
ill-equipped at that. We also have a piss-poor navy, with only two out-of-date destroyers.
We have very little amounts of men to draw from (mostly due to the fact we do not accept
africans into the army which I regret) only about 286,000. We do not have enough industries
nor the resources to wage any longlasting war. We have started researching a basic computer
which will alow any future researching to be much more efficient. Our first creation of units
is a disgrace, only two transports, but that is enough to allow us to project our might onto
foreign shores.
January 6, 1936: A major conference is held today. The members of the South African
cabinet meet in the capital of Kaapstadt (Cape Town) to discuss our diplomatic future. Nicolaas
Havenga, the armaments minister brought up a controversial point, should we break from Mother
Britain and forge our own path? or should we stay with them which will keep things stable but
prevent any chance of South Africa expanding its power base. For now we will adopt a wait and see
technique. But when a opportunity is within our grasp, I, nay South Africa will not let it go by.
