Hi, everybody in hoi2 land, A couple of weeks ago I saw the egale has landed. For those of you who havent seen it , its basically about a Nazi plot to assasinate Winston Churchill which ends up going awry.

definately a good movie when it struck me; what if there was an event for this in c.o.r.e. Now im no historian so I'm not sure whether or not this plan was actually executed but it seemed reasonable to me that someone like Hitler would have considerd it.

anyway I guess what im sayin is that this might be an event worth looking into as this would have definately thrown the entire war off course for the Allies and have extreme effects for all theaters of war which I wont get into because I dont have a spare couple of days. So would it be possible to put in an event where theres like a 1 in 1000 chance when its implemented that Churchill will die?

Read the book, it's much better, though the movie is fun.

And FWIW, it is based on actual German plans, that never happened AFAIK. Even so, it's specualtive at best, and imaginary at worst. I don't think that this will ever make it in, except as some sort of personal "what if" add on.

similar plans over murder of hitler could it instaed be done by modifying the coup a little bit

The allies considered assasinating Hitler, but decided against it because they felt that almost any likely replacement would be a considerably less incompetent strategist than Hitler.

There is also a somewhat murky episode in Teheran where German paratroopers were flown in to attempt an assassination of Roosevelt when the 'Big 3' met there. Skorzeny was approached to lead the expedition, and turned it down after a glance.

Rightly so as it turned out - the plan had been known about by Soviet intelligence, and the German transport plane was shot down (I believe while over Turkey).

Theres more about this in Erikksons 2 volume series on the war in the east. An interesting little plan though.
