Hello, CK is my favourite game and this is my first AAR.
I will use different countries and I will follow the "Ephesiotes" family.
I will use some cheats in order to make the story more interesting.
Another thing, my english is not-so-good, please correct me in case!
Now, let's go!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Year 1205. Patrikios of Ephesos has been finally murdered. The Eastern Roman Empire is dying and the Angelos dinasty is almost extinguished.
Intrigues, homicides, wars and massacres are ruining the lands from Serbia to Armenia. Two men are guilty for this mess: Peter Assen, former king of Bulgaria, now Roman-Bulgarian Emperor, and Patrikios of Ephesos.
But who was Patrikios of Ephesos? At the beginning he was an ambitious count of an insignificant town, Ephesus. Historians remember he was cruel, he killed his wife twice and one of his daughters. But he was the first to raise arms against the Rum Sultanate, the once powerful turk nation in Anatolia. He marched alone with Ephesus towards Ankyra and built another feud for himself. Emperor Isaakios Angelos prized him, and followed his war destroying the sultanate. In 1200, the turks were no more in that region. In addiction, Patrikios recieved Trabzon and Ani, which gifted to his daughter. The conflict with the Imperial authority begun when Patrikios invaded Cypros with his own forces and obtained the title of Prince of Cypros, but did not secede from the Empire. Historians wrote that Patrikios went crazy when he was at Cyprus.
At Cyprus he conjured against the emperor. He ordered homicides against the most fellow vassals of Alexios Angelos (heir of Isaakios) and contacted Peter Assen, king of Bulgaria. In few months, bulgarian troops marched through Thrace. The emperor sent the troops of his feud, but these were corrupted and deserted. Alexios was obliged to give up his rights and gifted the crown to Peter Assen, who was crowned Roman-Bulgarian Emperor in the fortress of Tzurullon, not far from Constantinople.
Assen's empire did not last long. The old vassals refuse to swear for him, and - this is a thing that historians do not clearly explain - Patrikios of Ephesus, Prince of Cyprus, did not recognize Peter Assen as roman emperor.
The reaction of the bulgarian king was as fast as cruel: he ordered to kill all the vassals who did not accept his dominion. Patrikios of Ephesus was one of this: he was killed and his young son, Theodoros of Ephesus became Prince of Cyprus.
Bulgarian kingdom fell, destroyed in the civil wars. Indipendent duchies spread all over Greece, while anatolian counts remained neutral. Peter Assen was obliged to give up the roman crown. The child Theodoros of Ephesus was made Emperor of the Roman Empire by a large group of greek nobles from Anatolia. Thrace with Constantinople remained to Bulgaria.
The central Anatolia swear loyalty to the 10-years-old child Theodoros, hoping to manipulate him, while most of greek territories declared indipendence. Many historians declare 1206 as the end of the roman empire...
...but what this young soldier do? Will he be manipulated from powerful anatolian nobles? Or he will rebuild the empire? And what is going to happen in the Balkans, where there are almost no imperial counties?
