When I play battle scenarios, the gaem movies very quickly. But when I play the regular scenarios, the game moves rather slowly, timewise, even at higher speeds. I have 512 MB of ram, and a 1.2 ghz processor, so that can't be the problem. What's going on?

In a full scenario, there is a lot more info that needs to be calculated/keep track of.

- production
- research
- much, much more nations
- more provinces in use
- much, much more units
- diplomacy, trading, etc.

And the AI has to manage all that extra stuff, which uses CPU cycles.

So, what you're saying is, a 1.2 ghz isn't fast enough to properly run HOI2?

It's more of a memory-issue I think. If you have 512MB ram and run winXP it might be a bit too small since XP eats a whole lotta memory.
Try to exit all other programs in the background and maybe reinstall windows if you haven't done that in a while, usually does wonders.
Also update your graphics and audio drivers...
