I have had the game on my computer for a year. When I used to play it it worked fine, but when I decided to continue an old Portugal game it did so a few nights back. This was the night when I had just installed Moctezuma's 'unlimited game time' patch. That night I played it after installing the patch and at first it worked ok. I haven't been able to go back and play the game since, because I'm having problems getting the game to stay up on the screen.

I double click on my desktop icon for this game to load. I then click the play option on the menu and then it does either one of two things:

1) The screen comes up blank(black), then the colour changes from black to grey and doesn't load, sometimes also minimizing to the bottom of the screen. :(

2) The game loads, you choose a pre-saved game and then the game automatically closes itself down as the selected game appears on the screen.

Do I need to add something to the patch I installed, as I only have the original 1.4v with no other add-on other than the one I mentioned?

Many thanks if you can help ;)

For obvious reasons, we cannot support modifications that were made by a third party. If your troubles began after applying a third party tool, you should contact the creator of the tool.

For now, I would suggest reinstalling the original game, and apply the official patches as released by Paradox, and see if that works ok.

np. Let is know how it turns out.

I uninstalled it the game from the computer. Then I rebooted my computer and installed it again. I'm just getting the same problem as I was before. I think it's something to do with Bink video, it keeps coming up with numerous error reports.

Ok. If the bink player is acting up, then that can be easily disabled. Just rename the AVI folder into something else, such as AVI_BACK. That will disable the bink player alltogether.

If that does not work set the color depth to 16 BIT, and shutdown all programs running in the background.

I noticed as I was about to do this that the other patch which I mentioned seemed to still put itself in the EUII folders after uninstalling and re-installing the game. This time I have deleted the patch completely. It seems to have worked a little better now. I am no longer getting the error reports I was before, even with the 'avi' folder not being renamed.

I think I have made progress after uninstalling and re-installing the game a second time, as it is now loading the menus and will load the game. The only thing is that the program closes, once it loads the pre-saved game.

Even with the 'avi' folder renamed it doesn't make a difference.

I found out that it is now just that pre-saved game that will not work. I started a new game just to see what happens and it is now running fine.

Thanks for your support in this thread guys, you at least helped me get the game working again :)

That's what we are here for. ;)
