the games slowing down

i play the single player probably every day on the exteremly fast seting, but around 1943 i notice the game is much slower than before, is this just a ram issue? (i have 512) or what, is there anything i can do to speed the game up, near the end its so slow that i normally just stop playing and start over again. any help would be aperciated

To an extent it is a ram issue, but the game will slow down as more and more units get built.

If you look in the Victoria tech support forum, you will find a FAQ by jpd on game slow down, everything in there applies equally to HOI2.
