Hello all, I've been reading other people's AARs for ages so I thought I would man up and give it a go myself. This first one is going to be more my thoughts as I go through it than an overwhelming story, basically I'm playing it as if someone was up there steering the major players in Greece to do what I think they should do. I am going to be moving towards some things that Greece (or people within Greece) at various times have thought about. Basically I don't know enough about Greece in this period to play it as all these people accurately, I don't currently feel up to doing a funny one where they act massively out of character and to be honest I'm not good enough at the game to give you guys a guide to playing as anyone really so that leaves us with just documenting my game.

With that lets set some goals shall we.

Goals:
1. Survive, if we don't survive what's the point, what you take but can't hold you may as well not have taken.
2. Retake Constantinople, what a Constantine founded and what a Constantine lost we shall regain.
3. Rebuild the Eastern Roman Empire, ambitious and probably not possible but we can try can't we.

Rules:
1. Historical start, custom start felt a bit like cheating, perhaps if I die horribly this play through we'll try again with custom start.
2. Prepare for war, I am however allowing this choice, after all we are preparing for war.
3. No do overs, basically I'm playing this as I play it, no restarting from an earlier save if we get hammered then we get hammered.

Anyway next post the status quo of Jan 1936

Part 1, Early Beginnings

I've decided to put images in spoilers so that you only have to see them if you want to see it, saves slow connections a bit. Let me know if this is annoying.

[/SPOILER

As you can see Greece is a fairly small country, our manpower and industry are both quite small. Our army is fairly big for the size of our nation as can be expected with a small relatively young country that has spent a lot of its history fighting various wars. However it is not very well equipped (all equipment is Great War era, we have only one motorised and one artillery brigade) and everything is a reserve (though on the plus side most of them are infantry rather then militia or garrison so its not all bad). Our navy is small and antiquated and as you will see below we may have light cruisers but cannot build them. We have air bases but no aircraft to fly from them, to be honest this will probably take the longest to rectify, our navy and army must take priority.

Infantry techs are not too bad and we have Mountain infantry already researched, but while we have Motorised infantry we are a fair ways off building them yet.

Basically everything is un-researched, we can build artillery but its Great War period again. I doubt we'll be driving an armoured wedge deep into the heart of Asia any time soon.

As you can see our industry is fairly old-fashioned and will need a lot of modernisation which hopefully we'll be able to do so before war comes.

We can build Destroyers and Subs but nothing else, I won't bother showing you the large ships as there we can't even build anything (plus it saves me a picture I have to resize).

Aircraft again we have nothing developed so I will spare you seeing a boring picture.

Doctrines we only have any for the Army, again these are mostly so old fashioned as to be obsolete, much work will be needed but at least we don't have to spend IC to upgrade these so apart from tech costs they are a free way to boost our troops fighting ability.

So that's January 1936, the grand start to our campaign, as things will be fairly slow to start with I will be doing yearly updates giving you the situation each 1st of January unless something exciting crops up.....
