I'll preface this by saying we used to enjoy this game a lot, and have all the DLCs purchased, aside from Cosmic Storms, which until now had still been on our to-buy list. We've got 700 hours spent together in multiplayer games.

However, there comes a point at which you can't just put up with a product that is released in such a horrible state.

We're 21 patches after the release of an update that was suppose to optimize things, yet now it is difficult to even have a compete, bug-free game from start to finish. I'm only talking about multiplayer, since we always play the game together at home.

Just look at the videos from two recent games we just tried to play

infinite desyncs -

frigates upgrading into deep space citadels -

and these are just the last two games.

This isn't CoD, where you just jump from match to match a dozen times a day. You invest dozens of hours into a single map, just to have it eventually ruined by yet another game braking bug.

Get your act together. It's unbelievable how this industry is allowed to get away with such half-baked products without any repercussion.

I gave up on multiplayer last christmas, I think or was it last summer. Was crashing after being super stable for me on my home network. Couldnt advance the game past a certain point, so didnt bother after that

Sadly I have to agree.

I run into desyc after desync after desync after desync... how hard is it to have peers synchronize properly in time? If you can't optimize it for peer to peer, just server host it and have the server keep time.

I'm mentally exhausted from slamming my head against the wall thinking this next patch will solve it all..

Stop all features. Stop all bugs. Fix the desync issues that have been plaguing Stellaris since the times of wormhole generators. If we can't play together, we dont have a game worth enjoying with friends.

Honestly, I still don't understand why they didn't just release 4.0 as 3.14 with the Biogenesis features added on top. That approach would’ve made far more sense. They could’ve gathered feedback on the balance and mechanics of Biogenesis specifically, while running a separate public beta for the massive overhauls they had planned.

Instead, they threw everything at the player base all at once—and now we’re all stuck suffering through a mess. It feels like we’ve been forced into testing half-baked systems that should’ve been optional or experimental until they were ready.

Stellaris in its current state is complete garbage and its a shame because it used to be my favorite game.

Desync issues are bugs – the software is literally doing the wrong thing – so this pair of imperatives is incoherent.

Also, most desync issues are going to be specifically engine bugs, rather than scripting bugs, so whatever the engine team are looking at, the content team should carry on looking at scripting bugs.

My friends and I have been going crazy dealing with constant desync. We commented on it right after 4.0 released, and three separate patches that they fixed the problem but they clearly didn't. It's not as bad as it used to be, but we usually decide when to stop playing for the day when we get about 7 to 8 desynced back to back.
