I've been wondering if this is possible to do in CK.

Is it possible for instance there is a revolution in youre country like for instance France (non historical) because you were planning to help the English for some reason and the people found out so they started the revolution.
Now the thing is that is it possible to abdicate and run away to england which the king is willing to give you a small feifdom (Sp?) which you can rule? Or can you run away to that country under thier protection for awhile and wait to start another civil war to bring you back into power?

Thanks.

Maybe abdicating and joining a monastary. Don't know if it happened in CK times but it happend pre-CK.:)

Well, if we imagine something like civil war in kingdom X, and now Ex-monarch of it flee to some court near to wait for... oportunity to start another civil war what will bring him back on power...

This sound logical to me and as something that did happened here and there in history

Not that absurd. Medieval rulers could get into that kind of trouble, eg the sicilian vesper against french rule. Not exactly what the initial post stated, but a ruler could be forced out for being seen as a traitor; I think there was a case of a ruler's son being put on the throne because the father was seen as a traitor, but I can't for the ... of it remember who it was... the raising of Charles VII might be close.

More interesting, can you be promoted to king replacing a legitimate dynasty? Let's say the 1242 revolt against Louis IX is successful, could the King of England or the count of Tolosa (if that one's playable) become King of France, at least if he has some claim like Henry V?

What would be better is if your crown prince ran away, cos he was plotting to depose you and you found out...
definitely more plausible I think. The crown prince could run away to another country, get support and re-invade. Think Gaston d'Orleans in 1600s under Louis XIII (ok, a bit late, but there must have been precedents)

My memory is a bit sketchy here and i'm too lazy to check it up, so sorry, if i get the name wrong.

But wasn't it Henri III, who was elected to be king of Poland and he was already in Polish territory, when he's brother died and he became king of France. So Henri turned his horses around and begun to run like hell back to France, with angry Poles at his tail.

Hmm, combining this with a "Great Royal Hunt" event would be fun :D

You're right, but both this example and the last are outside the CK time period, so it's debatable whether they should be relevant.

I know, i know... just wanted to show an example that kings are also ready to run if there is need for it.

But still though, that is a good idea about the crown price running away because he was planning to despose you.
Hey guys do you think this is a good idea:
There are also relations between youre children and you besides countries? And you could possibly disown your child or take away his brithwrite (sp?) to the throne?

But I'm pretty sure that brothers, sons, jealous uncles or cousins could be liable to garnering support abroad for a coup... any hostile country would jump at the opportunity to install a puppet monarch on the throne, reliant on their support.

Some sons could be pro-(insert country here), cos their mother was that nationality, so they could count on that country for support.

The event of a king being deposed (with or without foreign help) and eventually returning (with or without foreign help) is indeed relevant for the CK time period too. We just have to glance through some monarch lists to see there are several "deposed" and "restored" there...

E.g. Donald III of Scotland was deposed twice by rivals supported by William II Rufus of England in the late 11th century, right in the start of the game. What later became known as the fourth crusade was also an armed foreign support of a Byzantine claimant that succeeded in restoring the deposed Isaac II.

I believe this becomes a question about exiles and the possibility to shelter and support these. It would definitely be a cool feature, but it might be too much to ask...?
